COLOR BEFORE WATER 7/10
Yellowish gold with a suggestion of green
LOUCHE ACTION 8/10
Classic slow, full, bottom-up louche
COLOR AFTER WATER 8/10
Thick and golden
AROMA 27/30
Traditional Pontarlier aroma with an odd but not unpleasant phenolic/smoky note. Neat, the phenols are quite prominent
MOUTH-FEEL 7/10
A bit of alcohol bite and slightly thin but still nice.
TASTE 17/20
Quite good. Fennel and phenol predominate with other herbs in supporting but harmonious roles. If I had lived in Pontarlier before the Great War and could order any brand I wanted, I would still reach for Dechanet on occassion.
OVERALL IMPRESSION 9/10
This is a first rate absinthe. Not quite at quality of PF but still superb.
